Description
In these part-time roles you will supervise and care for individuals detained at the RCMP Detachment while awaiting court hearings, return to parents, or transfer to a correctional or penal institution. Responsibilities include completing required prisoner documentation and maintaining the cleanliness of jail cells and the guardroom. The position may involve exposure to potentially violent or hostile individuals, unpleasant working conditions, and bodily fluids. Shifts vary and may include 4 to 12 consecutive hours, split shifts of two (2) hours during the day and two (2) hours at night, or on-call work as required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Grade 12 diploma, along with relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively supervise and guard individuals. A valid Level 1 First Aid certificate, including CPR and AED training, is required. Candidates must also have completed formal training in conflict resolution or in managing hostile or challenging individuals.

These positions require open availability for all shifts, including night shifts and weekends.The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Enhanced Reliability Status as a condition of employment, in accordance with the Government of Canada's Directive on Security Screening. Applicants must provide a complete and verifiable five (5) year history, including residences, employment, education, and other activities, with no unexplained gaps. Periods of six (6) consecutive months or more spent outside Canada must be disclosed and may require additional verification. Screening may include identity verification, criminal record checks, reference checks, credit checks, and other background inquiries relevant to the position.
