Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking an organized and motivated Program Technician – Aquatics to join the Recreation Division at Gordon Head Recreation Centre. This part-time position is ideal for a collaborative individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for supporting high-quality aquatic programs and services.

Reporting to a Programmer I, or II, the Program Technician assists in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs. Responsibilities include supporting recruitment, training and supervision of aquatic staff, preparing schedules for programs and facilities, assisting with program promotion, and ensuring ongoing evaluation of programs and staff. The role also involves assisting with budget tracking, preparing payroll for approval, maintaining inventory and supplies, and providing direct program leadership as required to support overall aquatic operations.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 12, along with a minimum of one year of leadership experience in aquatics, including at least six months of staff supervisory experience. A current Standard First Aid in addition to Basic First Aid (Previously OFA 1), as well as aquatic certifications are required, including Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard. Additional certifications such as Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid Instructor, Aquafit Instructor, and Trainer are considered assets. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits
