Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking up to two knowledgeable and customer-focused Ceramics Studio Technicians (Team Leaders) to join the Recreation Division at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre. These casual positions are ideal for individuals with strong technical ceramics experience who enjoy supporting instructors, volunteers and studio users while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a busy community ceramics studio.

Under the general direction of a Programmer, the Ceramics Studio Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the ceramics studio and provides leadership and support to instructional staff and volunteers. Responsibilities include supervising ceramics programs and services during assigned shifts, loading, unloading and firing kilns, preparing and maintaining glazes, overseeing clay recycling, monitoring studio maintenance and safety, conducting studio orientations, maintaining equipment and supplies, completing records and reports, and assisting with staff scheduling. The Ceramics Studio Technician may also be required to instruct ceramics programs and support the planning and delivery of studio activities.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 12, along with a minimum of two years' experience working in a ceramics studio, including teaching and technical studio operations. Candidates must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED certification and demonstrate strong technical knowledge of ceramics studio operations, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while supporting staff and volunteers. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits
