This is technical and professional planning work at an entry level that involves planning research and analysis, the creation of plans, graphic presentations, printed material, and technical support for NSEM initiatives. The successful candidate will support the Director and other staff on various projects that will require strong communication and writing skills in the development of guidelines, standard operating procedures and emergency response plans.
In this role you will:
- Perform a variety of technical and research tasks related to NSEM planning projects.
- Conduct research and analysis on a variety of planning related topics.
- Assist with compilation, review, and presentation of NSEM planning initiatives.
- Exercise a considerable degree of independence and initiative in carrying out assignments.
- Demonstrate care and diplomacy in facilitating meetings with internal departments and external partners.
You will be expected to participate in the NSEM on-call schedule on a monthly rotational basis.

Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in emergency management at a technical institution or community college plus sound related experience in emergency planning and/or response, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence is required.

Salary: The pay range for this unionized position is $38.65 to $45.48 per hour (2026 rates) plus 12% in Lieu of Benefits
