Description
The Financial Reporting Compliance Advisor is a key member of the Financial Reporting team, bringing strong analytical and accounting skills to the Financial and Strategic Services department. Working to support the Senior Financial Reporting Compliance Advisor, this position requires a proficient use of data analytics and strong understanding of chart of accounts in a complex organization. 

This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position up to 18 months 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer the chart of accounts for the County which includes a large variety of cost centers and account categories 
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of interfaces into the Oracle general ledger and support the reconciliation of account balances in the general ledger to accounts in interfaced modules
  • Perform month end close and year end close procedures 
  • Use data analytics software to summarize large volumes of data, identify exceptions, or prepare analysis to respond to specific queries
  • Prepare working papers, journal entries and accounting analysis
  • File tax information including GST monthly submissions and annual slip preparation for non-resident withholding tax and other compliance filings
  • Conduct compliance reviews as required
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A related post secondary degree with a minimum of three years experience in accounting or a related field, or a related diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation complete or in progress is an asset
  • Experience in a municipal government environment is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud or other complex accounting systems 
  • Strong working knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and accounting processes required to support the accounting requirements of the Financial Reporting branch
  • Proficiency in the use of data analytical software (i.e., business intelligence) and Excel, along with proficiency in Word, Power Point and SharePoint
  • Ability to prepare online GST monthly submissions and annual tax remittance slips
  • Effective organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and complete work within restricted timelines while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interpret and communicate procedures and present data analytic results effectively to others
  • Excellent project management skills to prioritize several concurrent tasks, meeting critical reporting deadlines
  • Ability to prepare quality working papers to support external audit, compliance reviews, analysis and conclusions

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $89,180.00 - $111,420.40
