Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Recreation Clerk to provide administrative and clerical support in a busy recreation environment. This position coordinates dryland and aquatic facility rentals, works with internal and external clients to support successful bookings, and ensures documentation, payments, and related records are processed accurately and in accordance with District requirements.
The Recreation Clerk provides excellent customer service in person, by telephone, and electronically, responding to enquiries related to facility bookings, registrations, programs, services, and general operations. Key responsibilities include preparing correspondence and rental documentation; processing contracts, payments, credits, refunds, and daily deposits; maintaining cash floats; compiling statistics and revenue reports; maintaining records in accordance with retention requirements; and supporting registration, data entry, and other administrative functions. The role also supports communications and daily operations by updating website and facility status information, promotional materials, point of sale functionality, and booking records. Provides support to the Administrative Supervisor (including acting opportunities), staff, suppliers, and clients as needed.
Requirements include completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, including up to one year of post-secondary education in office administration, basic accounting and graphic design, plus one year of related experience in a similar role, including facility bookings and contractor payment services. Experience in a recreation or public service environment involving financial processing, records administration, and responding to public enquiries is an asset. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities, are essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work varying hours of work including evenings, early mornings, and weekends up to 35 hours per week depending on the facility needs.
