Our Enforcement Services Department is looking for a dedicated Peace Officer Sergeant to join the team.

 

Position Responsibilities

Enforcement Services is seeking an additional Peace Officer Sergeant to join our team. This is a supervisory level position, and the successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director of Enforcement Services. The Sergeant provides operational leadership and is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the unit. This role is integral to maintaining public safety, upholding community standards, and supporting positive relationships with staff, residents, and stakeholders. In this position, the Sergeant will lead a team of Peace Officers and/or Bylaw Officers and will be responsible for a range of supervisory and operational duties, including operational planning, staff training and development, performance management, scheduling, community engagement, and project coordination. In addition, the Sergeant will participate in an on-call supervisory rotation and may be required to assume the responsibilities of the Enforcement Services Managing Director on an interim basis when required.

Requirements

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a Diploma in Law Enforcement. A minimum of five years of law enforcement experience is required, along with demonstrated experience investigating provincial or bylaw related complaints. Previous supervisory experience within a law enforcement environment is considered an asset. Candidates will require a valid Community Peace Officer (Level 1) appointment, a City of Grande Prairie Bylaw Officer appointment, a valid Class 5 Driver's License, an enhanced security clearance and be able to successfully complete the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Specialized training in areas such as Emergency Vehicle Operation, Radar/Laser Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Inspections, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Weights and Dimensions is considered an asset. Salary & Benefits

Compensation

Salary range of $51.57 to $66.65 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.

 

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
