Public Works Department
Lac La Biche County is seeking a knowledgeable and service-oriented professional to join our Public Works team as Coordinator, Drainage and Brushing. Reporting to the Supervisor, Public Works, this position provides day-to-day coordination and oversight of the County’s drainage, ditching, culvert, and roadside brushing programs to support safe and reliable municipal infrastructure.
This role is responsible for inspecting municipal road allowances and stormwater infrastructure, prioritizing maintenance activities, coordinating contractors, responding to drainage and flooding concerns, and supporting ongoing infrastructure and vegetation management programs. The Coordinator also works closely with residents, internal departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure effective and compliant service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee brushing, ditch grading, culvert maintenance/replacement, drainage repairs, and related contractor activities
- Inspect drainage systems, ditches, culverts, and roadside vegetation to identify maintenance and repair needs
- Respond to public inquiries and emergency drainage/flooding situations
- Support brushing, ditching, culvert, and beaver control programs
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, environmental standards, and County policies
- Assist with work planning, reporting, documentation, and budget tracking
- Promote a strong culture of safety, customer service, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in construction, drainage, environmental services, public works, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or contractor oversight experience in a related field
- Experience with municipal drainage systems, culvert maintenance, roadside brushing, or road construction is considered an asset
- Strong communication, organizational, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in both office and field environments
- Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office
- Class 5 Driver's license
Position Details:
- Permanent Full-Time Position
- Hours: 40 hr/wk. Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- May have to work some evenings or weekends as needed for special projects or emergency work
- Combination of office and field-based work
- Salary range is under review
