Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update the JEG Site Emergency Plan and overall Site Hazard Assessment for all buildings on site.
- Support and review Health & Safety vendor prequalification applications, coordinating approvals with Directors.
- Develop and maintain OH&S meeting and inspection schedules in compliance with City policies.
- Provide guidance and expertise during OH&S meetings, inspections, and audits.
- Ensure OH&S documentation is properly completed, signed, and filed in accordance with City systems.
- Conduct internal audits and report findings, including corrective actions and recommendations.
- Coordinate the development and review of Hazard Assessments, safe work practices, and OH&S processes across Business Units.
- Collaborate with Supervisors and Training staff to manage training records and coordinate OH&S training sessions.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and the Health & Safety Advisor to support program implementation and promote a positive safety culture.
- Attend incidents and support investigations, including identifying root causes, corrective actions, and maintaining stakeholder communication.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary Certificate or Diploma in the field of Occupational Health and Safety. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Health and Safety is required. Experience working in a municipal setting is considered an asset. The incumbent will possess an Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, as travel to other worksites is imperative, and a valid First Aid Certificate. This role requires a high level of computer proficiency, which includes experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). A solid understanding of the City’s organization, processes, procedures, and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation, and Code is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong judgment, communicate effectively, adapt with flexibility, and proactively address safety concerns with staff and contractors.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours weekly, Monday – Friday

The City of Fort Saskatchewan offers a salary range of $72,969.00 to $85,839.00 per annum.
