Are you interested in gaining experience in a dynamic community planning environment? If so, Saanich is seeking a Planning Analyst 1 to serve for up to 18 weeks this Spring / Summer. The position will perform entry-level professional work while providing technical assistance to staff and the public regarding community planning, housing and development programs. This will include assisting with public engagement processes, conducting research on specific topics or planning problems and preparing written summaries or recommendations for senior staff.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following: 

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a planning program accredited by the Canadian Institute of Planners
  • Three months experience in planning research, data analysis, or public engagement
  • Familiarity with planning legislation, policies, and processes
  • Experience conducting planning research, including the collection and analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues and the public
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GIS and design software considered an asset.
Salary & Benefits
