                                                                                                           Approximately working from May 2026 to July 2027
Working within the Enforcement Services department and reporting to the Supervisor, Court Liaison & Shelter Operations, the Shelter Keeper I is responsible for regular maintenance of the shelter and general animal care. This position will include working alone or with limited supervision.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Completion of high-school diploma or equivalent. Education in animal health and behaviour is considered an asset.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in animal health, behaviour and/or care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in-person at Parkland County Services Building – 2700 48 St., Stony Plain, AB T7Z 1Y3.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Salary & Benefits

An Hourly Rate of: $27.29 per hour

This position is within scope of the current collective agreement between Parkland County and The International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 955.
