Posting Closes:  April 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.                       Schedule: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day)

Working within the Planning & Development Services department and reporting to the Manager, Subdivision Planning, the Planner II, Levies & Agreements is responsible for overseeing Parkland County’s off-site levy program, development agreements and securities program and processes.  This position manages and negotiates development agreements, oversees related legislative and policy requirements, and represents the County on various committees. This position supports subdivision planning by providing cross coverage within the unit, including leading subdivision applications, and related functions when assigned. The Planner II contributes to the continuous improvement of programs and processes by identifying and enhancing consistency and service delivery.  Additionally, this position will support the Director and Department Managers on a range of planning initiatives, projects, and applications, maintaining regular communication with leadership to ensure alignment on deliverables, address issues and advance projects.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field.  A Master’s Degree in Planning or a related field is considered an asset.  
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Registered Professional Planner designation in the Alberta Professional Planners Institute is desired.
  • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience with understanding of Provincial and Municipal off-site levies and development agreement policies, legislation, processes, procedures, and Statutory Planning documents in the Alberta context.
  • Proven ability to deliver responsive, respectful, and solutions-oriented service, taking initiative to identify and resolve problems.
  • Possess and exhibit strong skills in presentations to Council, community associations and government departments as required.
  • Ability to manage projects and multiple priorities by organizing work, meeting deadlines and tight timelines without losing sight of overall goals.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Assisted Design (CAD) applications is an asset.

Requirements:

  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Salary & Benefits

A Starting Salary of: $91,400 to $98,900 per year                         Max Salary Potential:$115,600 per year
