Description
Reporting to the Director, Civic Operations, the City Engineer oversees municipal infrastructure, capital projects, and development to support Council priorities and community needs. This role manages professional and technical services for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of City infrastructure, including transportation systems, water supply, sanitary and storm systems, and flood protection. The City Engineer provides leadership and ensures that projects are delivered to established engineering standards, within timelines and budgets.

Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a University Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 9 years of progressively responsible related engineering experience, including leadership experience. Registration as a P.Eng. is required. The role requires strong technical expertise in municipal engineering, including infrastructure planning, capital project delivery, and the application of sound engineering principles. The successful candidate demonstrates strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with experience in budgeting, resource management, and cost-effective service delivery. This position requires a collaborative and adaptable leader with proven experience in team leadership, performance management, and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent will demonstrate the City's leadership competencies: Achievement, Communication, Delegation, Empathy, Innovation, Persuasion, and Strategic Thinking.

Salary & Benefits
