The Communications Coordinator collaborates with Management to develop and implement an annual communications plan, create content, manage design and formatting, and maintain brand consistency across all channels.
The successful candidate will also provide timely support for urgent messaging, including crisis and emergency communications, and must be an innovative, detail-oriented professional with exceptional writing, design, and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overall management of all communication activities for the County.
- Monitor official County social media platforms daily for interactions, questions and feedback.
- Create and post timely, accurate and engaging content promoting services, programs, projects and events.
- Work with multiple departments to deliver open, transparent, and proactive internal and external communications.
- Plan for and develop County-related publications by drafting publications, compiling information and coordinating printing if necessary. (Annual Report, newsletters, power point presentations, business cards, etc.)
- Preparation and dissemination of news releases to appropriate media audiences.
- Manage Camrose County’s website and ensure it is current, accessible and user-friendly.
- Assist with the management of the campground booking website.
- Ensure consistent use of County branding across all communications.
- Photograph County events and presentations as needed.
- Maintain photo and content libraries for ongoing use.
- Support for urgent messaging, including emergency communications.
- Prepare/edit content for advertising (i.e. local newspaper ads, the county newsletter, brochures, employment ads, news releases, articles).
- Coordinate County recognition for sponsorships, grants, open houses, and public information sessions (i.e. signage, and photo opportunities, etc.).
- Attend Council meetings and coordinate communication from Council.
- Participate in regional initiatives.
- Special projects and other duties as requested.
- Represent Camrose County as needed at Trade Fairs, Trade Shows, Open Houses, etc.
- Support community events that contribute to the quality of life in Camrose County.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist other County personnel as time permits. Cooperation and assistance among staff is required due to varied peak work periods and overlapping duties.
- Develop a good knowledge of the County’s operations and personnel.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all records in the office and only release information in accordance with County policy and applicable legislation.
- Maintain effective public relations with other County employees, ratepayers and the general public and present a positive and professional County image.
- Attend seminars, workshops and courses with the objective of improving knowledge and skills related to performing assigned jobs.
- Ensure all messages are reviewed and approved prior to release.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
