ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Electrician with Wastewater Services, based at the French Creek Pollution Control Centre.


The Electrician contributes to the effective operation of the Wastewater Services for the Regional District of Nanaimo through the continued safe operation, maintenance and repair of the instrumental equipment and electrical systems of the Wastewater Treatment plant processes and pump stations. This position supports the department by ensuring the facilities’ instrumentation and electrical equipment are in good repair and functioning as required to allow department team members to maintain service expectations, permits compliance and departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include high school graduation as well as an Electrical Trade Qualification with Interprovincial Standard issued by the Province of BC, Field safety representative class B qualification, 6 months to 1 year electrical/electronic, instrumentation and control experience, preferably in a municipal wastewater collection and/or wastewater facility, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

Salary & Benefits

POSITION DETAILS
This is a permanent full-time (40 hours per week) Union position. The (2026) rate of pay is $43.50 to $45.79. The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the collective agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
