Description
In this casual role, you will supervise and care for individuals detained at the RCMP Detachment while awaiting court hearings, return to parents, or transfer to a correctional or penal institution. Responsibilities include completing required prisoner documentation and maintaining the cleanliness of jail cells and the guardroom. The position may involve exposure to potentially violent or hostile individuals, unpleasant working conditions, and bodily fluids. Shifts vary and may include 4 to 12 consecutive hours, split shifts of two (2) hours during the day and two (2) hours at night, or on-call work as required.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Grade 12 diploma, along with relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively supervise and guard individuals. A valid Level 1 First Aid certificate, including CPR and AED training, is required. Candidates must also have completed formal training in conflict resolution or in managing hostile or challenging individuals.

This position requires flexibility and availability to work a variety of shifts. As a condition of employment, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an RCMP Reliability Status. The purpose of this posting is to establish a contingency list of pre-qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies as they arise. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
