The District of Saanich's Parks, Recreation and Community Services department is seeking a team player to help drive our mission of Healthy Nature, Healthy People, and Healthy Community, while supporting our vision: a Saanich where everyone belongs. Community Services Division, is seeking Program Leader I – Summer Outdoor Camps- SNPP & Youth Camps to support the delivery of outdoor and nature-based camp programs. These positions work within a team environment to provide safe, engaging, and inclusive recreational experiences for children and youth in outdoor settings.

Program Leader I – is responsible for planning, leading, and facilitating a variety of outdoor camp activities. This includes supervising participants, ensuring safety and risk management procedures are followed, supporting positive behaviour, and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. The role may also involve assisting with program setup and takedown, communicating with participants and families, and supporting other leaders as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; a minimum of three months’ experience working with participants in a recreational or instructional setting; Emergency First Aid and CPR-C; and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment. Employment is subject to the provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. Experience leading outdoor or adventure-based programs and experience working with children with behavioural or cognitive challenges are considered assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

If shortlisted, applicants must provide proof of completion of Grade 10 and current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C at time of interview.

Salary & Benefits
