Parks, Recreation and Community Services – Recreation Division Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking qualified and enthusiastic Aquatic Instructor II staff to support the delivery of high-quality aquatic programs. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about teaching, safety, and customer service, and who thrive in a dynamic, community-focused aquatic environment.

As an Aquatic Instructor II, you will be responsible for the instruction of Lifesaving Society Swim for Life programs and for ensuring the safety and supervision of participants during registered and drop-in aquatic activities. You will teach according to established safety and skill standards, evaluate participant progress, complete required records, and contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for patrons at Gordon Head Recreation Centre.

Requirements

Requirements include Completion of Grade 10 and a minimum age of 15 years; a minimum of three months of related experience; current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months. Candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $26.55 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits.  Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
