The Engineering Department is at the heart of designing, maintaining, and enhancing the district’s infrastructure and essential services. Within Public Works, the Street Operations section is responsible for the construction and maintenance of above ground infrastructure such as sidewalks and paved roadways. Street Operations is also responsible for responding to winter events by plowing and applying anti-icing treatments to our roadways. We are currently seeking two motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as an Operations Worker II.
Saanich Street Operations is seeking two Operations Worker IIs who will perform work that require skills and abilities in a wide variety of civil works related to road maintenance and construction. Duties include a variety of tasks related to municipal above ground assets in road construction and maintenance which require some special training or experience, please see the job description at www.saanich.ca for more detail.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; two years experience in Roads Construction and/or Maintenance; Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate; Annual renewal of Drivers' Abstract; Traffic Control Person Certificate; Valid Class 3 BC Driver's Licence with an air brake endorsement and sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina, and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all weather conditions.
The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Only those under consideration will be contacted.
This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $37.95 per hour plus an excellent benefits package or 15% in lieu of benefits for Temporary positions.
