Invest Grande Prairie is looking for a dedicated Economic Development Officer to join the team.  

 

Position Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, the Economic Development Officer is part of the Invest Grande Prairie team. The EDO supports the City’s economic growth by driving business investment, retention, and expansion. This role builds relationships with developers, investors, and local businesses to attract new opportunities and expedite development projects. Acting as a liaison between industry and government, the position helps navigate regulatory processes and remove barriers to growth. It also provides business advisory and information services, develops and implements strategic plans and frameworks, and collaborates with economic, industry, and government partners to foster a strong, diverse, and sustainable local economy.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, business administration, or similar.
  • Ec.D Designation is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Progressive experience in economic or business development, ideally within a municipal or government setting. 
  • Proven experience in business investment attraction, retention, and expansion, including responding to investor inquiries, developing proposals, and implementing support programs for local businesses.
  • Experience managing projects, grants, and stakeholder partnerships with businesses, developers, and government agencies is essential.
  • Strong research, analysis, and communication skills are required to prepare economic reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Experience organizing economic development events such as trade shows, investor tours, or business forums is considered an asset.

 

Salary & Benefits

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

 

Compensation

Salary range of $45.21 to $58.43 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
