About the Role
An auxiliary position is available in our Engineering Public Works Division for a Clerk-Operations, to join our dynamic, service-focused team. This is primarily customer service, clerical and typing work of moderate complexity. The work involves performing timekeeping duties; processing and routing service and work requests; processing applications for a variety of permits; providing diversified information and assistance to the public on matters related to the services, procedures, policies and operations of the Engineering Public Works division and performing a variety of duties of a semi-technical nature. You will provide general customer service and clerical support to the various sections of the division and exercise some independent action and judgement.
The successful applicant will have:
- Sound knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including timekeeping and record keeping practices, English, spelling and punctuation, filing and related clerical functions.
- Sound knowledge of applicable departmental policies, practices, procedures and collective agreement.
- Sound knowledge of the operations and functions of the department as related to the work performed.
- Ability to independently compose routine correspondence, reports, and related material.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, deal effectively with staff, the public, handle enquiries, provide information and resolve routine complaints.
- Ability to read non-complex Engineering plans.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related courses plus sound related clerical experience, preferably in a municipal environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’ s License is required.
Details
Salary: The pay range for this unionized position is $29.48 to $34.63 per hour (2024 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Hours of Work: Hours of work will vary between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
