Purpose of the position
Reporting to and under the direction of the Officer, Grants and Community Development, the Coordinator maintains overall responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of services and advice within their area of responsibility: grants and community development. The role focuses on providing exceptional customer service while seeking solutions to complex problems with conflicting priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures grants and correspondence related to grants are documented and tracked, and that financial controls are followed.
- Delivers service excellence in communications and meetings with community groups.
- Provides regular status updates and reports as requested.
- Provides advice, support, and guidance within area of expertise to staff and serves on interdepartmental project teams and committees as required.
- Works with colleagues to identify and analyze emerging trends, issues and challenges specific to the funding required to achieve the County’s goals, and the external funding programs available or needed.
- Evaluates, and recommends funding opportunities (new grant revenue)
- May represent the County and its interests, or position on local committees or boards.
- Plans, promotes, delivers, and evaluates the County’s Community Grant programs, such as the Capital Projects Assistance Grant Program.
- Reviews grant applications submitted to the County, to ensure compliance.
- Prepares, amends, and completes grant funding agreements between the County and grant recipients.
- Manages the County’s grant applications, reporting and compliance with programs such as the Government of Alberta Local Government Fiscal Framework and the Canada Community Building Fund.
- Prepares year-end audit documents regarding the use of grant funds.
- Liaises with the Finance Department to reconcile payments of grant funding.
- Consolidates grants information to develop historical and comparative reports.

To be successful in this position, you will possess:
- Degree or diploma in Business/Public Administration, Commerce, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years related work experience
- Knowledge of local government or public sector practices and procedures
- Knowledge of grant development, administration, life cycle, and grant writing
- Excellent knowledge of program, policy, and procedure development
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, public relations, conflict management, judgement, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Be proficient in working with computer programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Be willing to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Position Details:
- Permanent full-time
- On site location: Lac La Biche, Alberta
Based on 1820 hours annually with a 7 hour workday, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required in the evenings or weekends for emergency duties or special projects.
