The Recreation Division is looking for an enthusiastic and organized Programmer I to lead health and wellness programming at Saanich Commonwealth Place Recreation Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of a variety of programs and services such as cardiac rehabilitation, yoga and chronic disease management. This includes supervising instructional staff and contractors, recruiting and training new instructors, scheduling programs and facility use, conducting community needs assessments, and developing promotional materials. You will be an integral part of a dynamic team committed to promoting wellness and active living in the community.
Requirements include a two-year post-secondary diploma in recreation, leisure studies or a related field; two years of experience in program planning and staff supervision. Required certifications for this role include CSEP Personal Training or equivalent and a current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. Preference will be given to candidates with experience delivering cardiac rehabilitation and health and wellness programs. Candidates must also possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence (if applicable) and provide a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than 6 months. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
