The Engineering Department is seeking a customer-focused and highly organized individual to join the Transportation and Development Services Division as a Development Aide. This position plays a critical role in the review and processing of development applications, including subdivisions, rezoning, development permits, and building permits. We are looking for a dynamic professional who thrives in a fast-paced office environment and excels at optimizing workflows. This role requires someone who is passionate about delivering efficient, high-quality service to both internal teams and the public.
As a Development Aide, you will carry out a range of technical, financial, and administrative functions. These include processing payments, maintaining financial ledgers, tracking deposits and development cost charges, preparing permits and correspondence, supporting permit software operations, managing files and records, and responding to public inquiries. Your work ensures the smooth progression of development applications and supports the integrity of municipal records and financial tracking systems.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; one year of post-secondary coursework in accounting/bookkeeping and office administration; and three years of related clerical or administrative support experience, including bookkeeping or accounting duties. Candidates must have proficiency in standard computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, accounting software), and experience with legal plans, building permits, and technical drawings. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
