G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre is hiring experienced and enthusiastic Instructor IIIs to plan and lead Naturalist programs Naturalist programs for all ages children to adults. These programs aim to foster environmental awareness, curiosity, and connection to the natural world through hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and interactive activities. Instructors are responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons on local ecology, wildlife, and conservation; preparing and maintaining materials and equipment; ensuring participant safety; and creating an inclusive and inspiring experience for all.
Requirements include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a natural history-related field such as biology or environmental studies, or an arts degree with substantial experience and knowledge in natural history. Emergency First Aid and CPR-C are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable presenting to groups of all ages and possess both a strong foundational knowledge of local ecosystems and the ability to adapt programming to different age groups. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Employment is subject to provision of a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) no older than six months.
The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including daytime, after school, evenings, and weekends; hours and schedules are subject to change based on program needs.
