Description
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Equipment Operator - Asphalt. Reporting to the Supervisor, Roads, the Equipment Operator - Asphalt carries out work in the operation, maintenance, and servicing of a variety of mobile, construction and maintenance equipment and related attachments pertaining to construction and maintenance of road right of ways, roads and laneways. 

Requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12 and have a minimum of one year related experience with asphalt/paving equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid BC Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement is required.

Salary & Benefits

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 40-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement.  The hourly wage is $38.06, increasing to $40.06 after 60 working days (Jan 2025 Rates).
