The Age Friendly Coordinator will manage the implementation, monitoring and updating of the Age-friendly Peterborough Community Action Plan. Develop and implement programs that build community capacity, opportunities and address aging issues and services to seniors across the Greater Peterborough Area. Support the Seniors Portfolio as a community-wide resource to aging and seniors’ related issues. Oversee, manage, and administer the Age-friendly Peterborough Advisory Committee (AFPAC) and associated Working Groups and Task Forces. Build strong partnerships and collaborate relationships with local leaders, staff, stakeholders, organizations, businesses, community members, and residents to advance common priorities and access to services is core to the role.
Requires the completion of a 4-year University Degree in Planning, Community Development, Social Work, Social Sciences, or Public Health with an emphasis on social, health or community development. Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in community development, strategic planning, networking and consensus building at a community level. Demonstrated experience must be associated with programming or services related to aging or seniors. Must possess leadership, management, budgeting, and team building skills. Proven interpersonal and communication skills are essential as they relate to effective coaching, motivation, group facilitating, presenting, public relations, and coordinating the work of others. Ability to maintain positive work relationships in a unionized environment. Must have excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, project management, and report writing skills. Ability to gain the cooperation of others and build confidence among peers. Demonstrated background in dealing with aging and equity issues.
Must be able to work at a high level of independence using diplomacy and sound judgement. Independence of actions requires the anticipation of needs, formulating solutions, and the allocation of resources. Must have a good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications. Conflict resolution skills using diplomacy and sound judgement are important. Elevated stress is frequently encountered when working with multiple partners to deliver projects and programs within the scope and timelines. The incumbent must have a creative/innovative focus on service delivery; a commitment to customer service and continuous improvement; a respect for the diversity of opinions, perspectives, and ideas; and be comfortable with changing priorities and demands. Must have access to reliable transportation in order to fulfil the responsibilities of the position. This position involves working irregular hours on a frequent basis including evenings and weekends. Travel within the City, County and First Nations are frequent occurrences.
Salary: $82,791.80
