Our Housing & Community Development Department is looking for a dedicated Housing & Community Development Supervisor to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The Housing and Community Development Supervisor plays a key leadership role in supporting social programs and partnerships that benefit residents in Grande Prairie. This position oversees funding contracts and collaborates on projects that enhance protective factors in our community, such as positive youth development, food security, system navigation, and support for newcomers.
This role is responsible for supervising staff, building relationships with local organizations, and supporting the delivery of programs funded through the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and supporting a team.
- Overseeing FCSS-funded contracts, including reviewing outcome reports, supporting compliance, and ensuring programs align with community needs and provincial guidelines.
- Supporting local non-profit and community organizations by helping them develop inclusive programs, apply for grants, and navigate funding and reporting requirements.
- Building strong working relationships with agencies, service providers, and partner networks to strengthen collaboration and improve access to services.
- Participating in local planning tables, networks, and cross-sector initiatives that aim to address social challenges and improve systems coordination.
- Leading team development by providing coaching, setting goals, reviewing progress, and creating a supportive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Human Services, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working within FCSS-funded programs or services, with a strong understanding of prevention-focused frameworks, provincial legislation, and outcome-based reporting.
- At least 1 year of direct supervisory experience, including coaching, performance management, and supporting staff development.
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative and adaptive staff leadership, foster inclusive team culture, and effectively manage individuals with varied communication styles and personalities.
- Proven skills in contract oversight, grant reporting, program evaluation, and using data to support decision-making and compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and respectfully to diverse audiences including community partners, funders, and City Council.
- Confident and skilled in facilitation, including leading multi-agency meetings, navigating difficult conversations, and creating collaborative spaces that encourage innovation and shared problem-solving.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust-based relationships, resolve conflict diplomatically, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and reporting tools; detail-oriented and organized in managing both strategic and administrative responsibilities.
- Familiarity with municipal systems, cross-sector collaboration, and equity-based service planning is considered an asset.
Compensation
Salary range of $44.10 to $57.00 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
