Description
This employee will apply Journeyperson Painter and Decorator skills and knowledge to prepare surfaces and apply paint, wallpaper, other protective coatings and decorative finishes to buildings, swimming pools, spray pools, ice surfaces, beams and structures, furniture, equipment, machinery, signage and other components of City facilities. Work is performed independently with latitude for determining specific job methods; however, work priorities are established in consultation with the Foreman-Painters. Assignments are generally in the form of work orders and/or oral instructions but may be accompanied by detailed written instructions, sketches, drawings, specifications, maintenance schedules, etcetera. Work is subject to inspection in progress and upon completion. A Journeyperson Painter and Decorator may be required to supervise other tradespeople.

 

 

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade twelve (12) and Journeyman Certification in the related trade area.
  • Four (4) to Five (5) years related Journeyperson experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment relevant to the assigned trade.
  • Considerable knowledge of the applicable bylaws, codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Occupational Health and
  • Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to supervise and train subordinates.
  • Ability to plan and schedule projects to ensure timelines are adhered to.
  • Ability to keep accurate records of labour, equipment and material used.
  • Ability to follow and enforce all safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to inspect and assess work quality.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment related to the assigned trades area.
Salary & Benefits

Hourly Salary: $32.48- $36.17 as Journeyperson, $29.47- $30.32 as Tradesperson
