JOB SUMMARY
This position assists with general and specialized maintenance throughout the Museum property, which includes 25 acres and 30 structures. Daily duties include supporting externally booked events, programs and be responsible for maintaining and cleaning of the facility. This position is responsible for the security and safety of the facility and its patrons when no other full-time staff are available. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. The hours of operation include evenings, weekends and holidays.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that the facility is opened and closed at the scheduled times.
- Notifies Facility Supervisor or Facility Coordinator if other part-time staff are absent during their shift or if there are part-time Maintenance staff issues.
- Performs general cleaning/maintenance (i.e. mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, window cleaning, washroom/dressing room cleaning, snow shoveling, garbage pickup, detail cleaning, setups and breakdowns of tables and chairs).
- Operates Museum truck and tractor.
- Operates power tools, floor cleaner, mobile equipment, and cleaning and safety equipment.
- Responds to requests from patrons (general public) and other City of Markham staff on a general facility issues and or maintenance requests.
- Performs grounds up keep and maintenance. Patrols the building looking for facility problems, safety hazards, or improper departmental operations.
- Responsible for the security of the building.
- Ensures that all policies and procedures are being followed by patrons and other PT maintenance staff as applicable
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Minimum one year experience working in a facility as asset
- Secondary School diploma.
- One year experience in recreational/cultural facility operations and maintenance or equivalent.
- Experience with associated materials, equipment operations, and maintenance procedures associated with a facility environment.
- Ability to complete basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Current certification in Standard First Aid, CPR, and Propane Handling an asset.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, organization skills are required as is the ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Must be physically able to perform the bona fide requirements of the job. This position involves occasional heavy lifting.

Salary Range:$29.15 To $29.60 Hourly
