As a member of our Engineering Infrastructure Services leadership team, your primary responsibility is to lead a team of technical and professional staff that manage the successful delivery of large, complex municipal infrastructure projects on behalf of the District. Reporting to the General Manager, Engineering Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the progression of projects through the project lifecycle in accordance with the District’s Project Management Framework, including identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring necessary documentation and approvals. You will also be responsible for engagement with internal stakeholders, council, public officials, senior levels of government, First Nation partners, 3rd party utility companies, design and construction professionals and the general public, making decisions on procedures, project delivery methods, traffic management, resolution of competing interests, and compliance with policies which have financial and community implications.  The role may also oversee staff coordinating major third-party infrastructure initiatives, project-level communications, and customer service.

 

Requirements

We require a seasoned Engineer or Project Manager Professional with superior written and verbal communication, team building and technical ability, who is able to work effectively with the public as well as internal staff.  You will have experience in all aspects of municipal design, infrastructure master planning, budgeting, staff management, and consultant management.  Experience in municipal construction, and management of civil infrastructure contracts would be an asset as well as experience writing and presenting reports to local government Councils.   Working to build functional teams, you would have the skills to motivate staff, consultants and contractors and work well as a team player across multiple departments. 

Qualifications
You will have a university degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, along with registration as a professional with EGBC, or PMP, plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant project management experience, and progressive supervisory experience ideally in a unionized environment.  

 

Salary & Benefits

Salary: The pay range for this exempt position is $140,984.96 to $156,672.27 per annum (2024 rates) 
Hours of Work: 35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)
