As Regional Emergency Management Coordinator, you “Take care of Banff” and the Town of Canmore by engaging residents in impactful emergency and disaster preparedness, planning and mitigation activities that enhance individual and community safety for Banff and Canmore residents and visitors. This position is shared between the Town of Canmore and Town of Banff. This role represents the critical collaboration between the Towns, ensuring regional coordination before, during, and after major incidents and events.
Your qualifications demonstrate your acquired skills and knowledge in the key planning and operating functions throughout the emergency management cycle. You apply incident management principles and the Incident Command System (ICS) in emergency response planning, incident management program delivery and when working in an emergency coordination centre.
This position will blend a common focus across the two municipalities and you are professional with qualifications in establishing coordination and collaboration on initiatives across inter-governmental, inter-municipal and inter-departmental jurisdictions. Your experience and personal characteristics lend themselves to effective planning and execution of projects with the reputation for bringing diverse teams through to implementation and response.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced emergency management professional who has completed post-secondary education in Emergency or Disaster Management or related degree or diploma program. You have a minimum of ICS300 in the Incident Command System (ICS) and have your Basic Emergency Management training.
Your work experience demonstrate at least 3 years in a provincial or municipal emergency management position requiring development, delivery and reporting on programs, leading incident response training and management activities, application of regulatory and legislative requirements.
This full-time position (based on 36 hours per week) will be shared between the municipalities of Banff and Canmore. As a salaried position, the Regional Emergency Management Coordinator will effectively blend focus and hours as needed, to ensure key accountabilities of the role and personal priorities are achieved. The salary starts at $76,000.00 per year and is eligible for traditional and non-traditional benefits offered to Town of Banff employees.
