Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our Capital Projects team. The Capital Projects team works to plan and execute a diverse portfolio of projects that aim to improve and expand our City’s facilities, parks and infrastructure. Reporting to the Capital Projects Supervisor, this role applies administrative and technical expertise to support the success of these projects through planning, design, and construction. Responsibilities include tracking project schedules and budgets, development and administration of contracts, coordination of contractors, oversight of design and construction, ensuring compliance with requirements, and generally removing project roadblocks. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Eligible for certification as an Applied Science Technologist with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC).
- Certified Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) Contract Administrator, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum of five years' previous experience as a construction Inspector or in design and field inspection of municipal facilities including waterworks, sewerage, roads, and structures including at least two years of recent contract administration experience.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE 900 Local Position.
Please note that this position is currently under review and the pay grade is subject to agreement between the employer and the Union.
