A two (2) year temporary full-time vacancy exists in the Information Technology Department for an IT Support Assistant to perform computer support and clerical work in the delivery of user support and problem resolution services to the District. In this role you will be the first point of contact for information technology services.

 

This role is positioned in the department as the first contact point for users when reporting IT issues or requests. As such, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients and to provide advice, information and assistance.

In this Tier 1 position, you will respond to and log user requests, investigate equipment and software problems resolving those of a routine nature and referring more complex problems to appropriate technical staff, assist as directed in installing and evaluating applications, write and maintain basic instructions, and perform various clerical support and reception services for the department. You will work with users to ensure requests are sufficiently detailed to be actioned by the appropriate escalation points.

Our environment is predominately Microsoft focused with an emphasis on moving toward Microsoft 365 services. Experience and training in any of the following areas would be considered advantageous:

• In-person and remote customer service,

• Microsoft 365 applications and services (Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Office apps),

• Deployment of computers and laptops using preconfigured images (Autopilot, MECM),

• Support of managed mobile devices (Intune),

• Managing Active Directory groups and users,

• Basic network troubleshooting,

• Service desk ticket handling,

• An understanding of ITIL foundations.

Requirements

Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in computer sciences or related discipline at a technical institute or community college, plus sound related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

: The pay range for this unionized position is $34.63 to $40.74 per hour (2024 rates) 
Hours of Work: 35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)
Remote Work: This position is not eligible for remote work.
