Position Overview

We are seeking post-secondary students who have a passion for environmental stewardship, specifically related to wildlife conflict mitigation and waste reduction. If you are enthusiastic about conducting public education and engagement, collecting and managing data, and possess dynamic communication skills, we invite you to join our EcoSmart Team. We have multiple summer positions for those who have an interest in supporting the City’s existing Bear Smart and residential recycling and organic waste collection programs.  We are looking for energetic, self-motivated individuals with the flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, mornings or evenings. Requirements

The successful candidate must have the follow qualifications:

  1. Proficient in basic Word and basic Excel, as demonstrated through testing. (70% pass rate required)
  2. Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5 (or equivalent).

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time.

Salary & Benefits

Please note this is a Temporary, Full-Time position until approximately August 29, 2025. More than one may be hired. Please note that this position falls under the attached Student Hires Letter of Understanding.

Hourly Rate
$21.632 (+ 14% in lieu of benefits) = $24.660

Hours & Days of Work
5 days a week (shift to be determined by supervisor)
