The Transportation and Development Services Division oversees the design and installation of municipal-owned and 3rd party infrastructure within municipal rights-of-way. Working under the direction of the section manager or Engineering Supervisor, the Engineering Technician III performs technical work at a semi-professional level. Duties involve both field and office assignments related to the field of civil engineering design, including transportation design, land development and inspection of construction projects within the municipality, project documentation, and liaising with the public and consultants. This position manages projects as defined within the framework and guidance developed by the Project Management Office.

Requirements

Requirements include: a two year post-secondary program in Civil Engineering Technology; three years of directly related experience in civil engineering design including drafting, public works inspection, project documentation, and estimating; eligible to be registered as an AScT with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC; conversant with computer based engineering applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).

 

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $42.61 per hour (2024 rate) and an excellent benefits package. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
