The Payroll and Pension Partner processes day-to-day payroll and related activities for hourly and salaried County of Simcoe employees within the provisions of corporate policies, collective agreements, and statutory employment regulations, including such activities as gross-to-net calculations, retroactivity, ROE’s, garnishments, third party payments, and quotas processing etc.   Expertise in OMERS administration, ensuring compliance while providing customer-focused support to our employees.  Identifying and creating payroll and pension-related reporting requirements.  Utilizing digital tools and technologies to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and enhance overall efficiency.

Requirements

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS AND CERTIFICATION
•    Superior knowledge of all aspects of payroll processing for a complex multifaceted organization, obtained through a one (1) year post-secondary education in Office Administration, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•    Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification is required.

•    Experience working in a high-volume payroll and pension environment.

•    Comprehensive knowledge of payroll and pension legislation and labour standards as well as comprehensive knowledge of OMERS pension and reconciliations.

•    Strong computer skills including expert level MS Excel, intermediate level MS Word, MS Outlook, and experience with File Transfer protocol (FTP). Experience with automated report writing tools (Crystal, SQL, Spinefex, HR reporter, etc.) would be a strong asset. Functional and technical knowledge of Payroll and Timekeeping software is required.

•    Strong mathematical skills plus the knowledge and ability to calculate a manual net pay, retroactive pay, pension adjustments (PA’s), etc.

•    Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills to be able to investigate, analyze and resolve issues.

•    Must possess superior customer service skills.

•    Demonstrated prioritization, organization and time management skills to be able to work under tight deadlines and in a multi-task, fast paced, dynamic setting.

•    Possess exceptional communication skills both oral and written.

•    Must ensure a high level of integrity and professionalism, and be able to work with confidential and sensitive information.

•    Detail oriented, very high degree of accuracy.

•    Valid G Class Driver’s License and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.

EXPERIENCE
•    Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a computerized, multi-union, payroll environment.

•    Experience with per diems, special tax calculations, taxable benefit calculations, employee expenses, garnishments, audits, etc.

Salary & Benefits

$75,641.00 - $92,019.00 plus a comprehensive benfits package
