Ontario’s municipal governments is seeking a Policy Intern. If you want to provide leadership influencing public policy to advance municipal goals and priorities, then this opportunity is for you.
Assisting Senior Advisors, the Senior Manager and the Director of Policy and Government Relations, the successful candidate will support AMO’s policy development and advocacy. The job will require research, analysis, report writing, project planning and coordination. The Policy Intern will help identify issues of importance to municipal government and help demonstrate impacts of the issues and appropriate responses. The Policy Intern will also assist with the development and implementation of AMO’s August 2025 Annual Conference in Ottawa, Ontario. The Policy Intern will also participate in the implementation of the AMO-Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Ontario on consultation, including participation in meetings with provincial Cabinet Ministers.
A university degree in public administration, public policy, economics, political science, social sciences, planning, or related discipline is preferred. Statistical and analytical skills, knowledge of municipal government, superior written and verbal communications and effective stakeholder relations will benefit applicants.
The Internship is a temporary position of up to 17 weeks.
The start date is May to August 2025.
Location: Toronto, Ontario within a virtual/in-person hybrid workplace model.
Remuneration is $25 CAD per hour for a 35-hour week.
