Seasonal, Full-Time
Are you passionate about the outdoors and looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in your community this summer? As a Parks Labourer with the City of Medicine Hat, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our beautiful parks, open spaces, cemeteries, campgrounds and outdoor recreation amenities. This full-time seasonal position runs approximately from mid-April to the end of October, making it an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals who enjoy hands-on work in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Your key responsibilities
- Perform basic groundskeeping, horticultural, arboricultural, and facility maintenance tasks.
- Operate and maintain small equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
- Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with current standards.
- Communicate effectively to share information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and interact positively with members of the public.
- Complete other related duties as assigned by your supervisor or foreman
Requirements
What you bring
- A strong work ethic and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Basic knowledge of operating and maintaining small equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Dependability and reliability in all aspects of your work.
- A positive attitude and the ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills to follow verbal and written instructions.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma.
- At least one (1) month of hands-on experience in grounds, horticultural, arboricultural, or facility maintenance.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
