Description
Parkland County has an opportunity for a temporary, full-time Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting position in the Finance Department working from March 2025 to approximately September 2026. Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Reporting & Operations, the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting including year-end and audit. This position also oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and payroll and provides leadership to direct reporting staff. The position will also interact regularly with a wide range of municipal departments to provide required financial information and to assist departments in monitoring their financial reports in relation to their budgets while leading projects and initiatives in alignment with departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the areas of municipal/public accounting, the Municipal Government Act, financial reporting, payroll processing and benefit administration and thorough knowledge of Canadian Public Sector Accounting standards.
• Strong technical skills to evaluate, investigate, and interpret information related to financial information.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365 or complex financial systems and the ability to access and manipulate data from various financial and non-financial information systems. Knowledge of Dayforce is considered an asset.
• Ability to apply mentoring and coaching skills to encourage, develop, and maintain an effective and supportive working environment.
• Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

Salary & Benefits

The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $99,500 to $111,900 based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
