Job Purpose & Responsibilities:
The City of Cold Lake is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assume the responsibilities of General Manager of Community Services. This position is accountable for the programs and services which help make Cold Lake a great place to live, work, and play.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the General Manager of Community Services is responsible and accountable for:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating operations of the Community Services Departments (Parks, Recreation, and Family and Community Support Services)
- Providing strong leadership and support to department managers and staff members
- Ensuring departments are accountable for day-to-day operations by assessing budget amounts, reviewing monthly reports, and monitoring overall performance
- Supporting the CAO by providing information and knowledge to City Council members regarding the planning, organization, and direction of the Community Services department.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Human Services or Organizational Management
- Supporting post-secondary education in disciplines such as administrative management, leadership, or human resources management is desirable
- 5-10 years’ community service experience
- 5-10 years’ experience in a senior role, preferably within a Municipal Government setting
- Experience in community development processes
- Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and municipal operations
The successful candidate will be required to work on location in Cold Lake and have the flexibility to attend after-hours meetings, such as Council Meetings.
