Part-Time, On-Site

Are you passionate about leading recreational programs that inspire and engage people of all ages? At the City of Medicine Hat, we're looking for dynamic and dedicated Program Leaders to join our team at the Big Marble Go Centre. In this role, you'll plan and deliver a variety of recreational programs designed to foster community, creativity, and fun for participants of all ages. Whether it's coordinating activities, facilitating group events, or supporting recreational initiatives, you'll play a key role in creating memorable experiences.

This role will be scheduled during evenings and weekends, with evening shifts typically starting at 3:00pm.

Your key responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the quality delivery of recreation program outcomes.
  • Ensuring patron safety and providing excellent customer service during the delivery of recreation programs.
  • Ensure that all appropriate communication systems are followed to share information accurately, professionally, clearly, concisely, and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with organizing, planning, and delivering recreation programming.
  • Communicate effectively with community groups and organizations in the delivery of recreation programs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, following health and safety protocols.
Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills to manage program delivery and keep accurate records.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
  • Ability to react positively to demands and unexpected changes in work priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn city-specific software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma.
  • Six (6) months of general experience in Parks and Recreation programming or a related field.
  • Must be of minimum age (18).
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate C.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
