Requirements

Saanich is seeking a Planner to join our Current Planning team. The successful candidate will be innovative, pragmatic and self-motivated, with a focus on customer service. Skill sets will include thorough knowledge of planning principles and legislation, extensive experience managing development applications and drafting zoning, an understanding of land economics and urban design, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The individual will be team focused, working with a diverse group of professionals to implement our Official Community Plan.

You will undertake a wide variety of municipal planning work including managing development applications, developing and implementing principles of good urban design, writing planning reports and correspondence, planning research, Zoning Bylaw interpretation and community consultation.  You will also be involved in a comprehensive review of planning documents such as centre, corridor and village plans. Requirements include a Master’s degree in planning, five years’ experience in planning (preferably municipal planning); membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners. 

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week) with a possibility of flex days and a modified work schedule. Occasional work from home is available depending on work assignments.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $56.08 with an excellent benefits package.
