We're seeking a Parks Manager who will drive efficiency, ensure quality, and manage resources for exceptional service in the Parks & Recreation department. This role oversees urban forestry, parks operations, and key community assets, making a lasting impact on our city's green spaces.

Your key responsibilities

  • Oversee parks operations, including horticulture, arboriculture, irrigation, turf management, park facilities, campgrounds, and cemeteries, ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Lead and develop a dedicated team, including the Superintendent of Parks Operations, Parks Technician, and Urban Forestry Foreperson, to foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
  • Implement efficiency and productivity reviews, making proactive changes to enhance operations and meet evolving community and environmental needs.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service standards for both internal teams and the public through clear and consistent communication.
  • Manage budgets, recruit new talent, and allocate resources to ensure sustainable growth while achieving compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in management, business, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of seven years in parks operations, including at least four years in a supervisory role.
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
