• Act as a point of contact for customers via 311 and build relationships with operators, foreman, engineers, and supervisors regarding repairs and installation.
• Drive to various job sites to perform site visits, assess & develop options, build work packages, and offer advice on building grades and minimizing both tangible and intangible costs for repair of existing water, wastewater, and storm infrastructure.
• Collaborate and coordinate with external contractors, supervisors, construction engineers, and peer construction estimators to plan, prioritize, and schedule construction/repair work.
• Provide rotational weekend coverage to support emergencies.
Qualifications
• A completed 2 year technical diploma in a related field plus at least 5 years of related experience in construction procedures and practices including the interpretation of block-profiles and blueprints.
• An understanding of plumbing codes and knowledge of surveying, mapping and drafting is required.
• A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no current suspensions or charges pending.
• Excellent communication skills to be able to interpret technical and specialized data to interact with and convey information to customers and other individuals without a technical background.
• Able to bring a system approach to planning jobs, preparing agendas for meetings, and staying organized and on-track during the planning stage.
• Excellent prioritization skills and ability to pivot when scheduling gets adjusted due to unforeseeable issues.
• Ability to think strategically about repair jobs complexities including but not limited to high-level designs, construction issues, optimization, and cost-efficiency potentials.
• Proven document management and record keeping of work packages and tracking of projects.
• Success in this position requires sufficient construction and computer skills to seamlessly plan jobs and build work packages for repair crews
Pay Grade12 $45.53 - $60.86 per hour
