The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join our team of professionals within the Transportation and Development Services Division of the Engineering Department.  This strategic role is accountable for working across the organization on the development of medium and long-range land use plans and multi-modal transportation infrastructure plans. The Senior Transportation Planner will liaise with external agencies for the planning and review of major capital projects and assist with the implementation of the actions identified in the Active Transportation Plan. This position provides in-house technical expertise at a professional level, while providing customer focused service.

Requirements

The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where attention to detail is essential and deadlines are met. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, strong project management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.  Effective time management skills and the ability to problem solve in a changing work environment are equally important.  The individual will be team focused, able to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve planning and departmental objectives

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Planning or a related discipline; six years progressive experience in the field of transportation planning or related profession, preferably in a municipal environment and membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E.
