Description
Are you passionate about trees and want to incorporate nature into urban development? Saanich Parks is seeking an experienced professional to interpret, administer and enforce Saanich’s Tree Protection Bylaw.  The successful candidate will review development applications and provide technical tree related expertise in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge about tree protection during development, have some arboriculture experience and a demonstrated ability to interpret complex plans and proposals.

Requirements

Requirements include: University degree in urban forestry, forestry, environmental studies, natural resource management, biological sciences, planning, geography or other related field; course in investigation and reporting or related bylaw enforcement; four years of experience in administering bylaws, regulations, or legislation, preferably in a municipal setting and/or related to trees; Certified Arborist (International Society of Arboriculture); ISA Tree Risk Assessor Qualification; strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $50.75 per hour with a great benefits package. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
