Description
Saanich Recreation is seeking preschool assistants to work on-call and outdoors for the ECO (Educating Children Outside) program for preschool age children starting in early September and continuing throughout the school year.  The successful candidates will work with the Preschool Instructor to deliver the ECO Program at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary. This posting is for on-call relief workers to fill in for vacation coverage, illness etc.

The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting the preschool instructor to lead the ECO Program, a play based outdoor education preschool class. This also involves ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and communicating and working cooperatively with their participants, parents, co-worker, coordinators and supervisors.

The successful candidates will be required to work on-call/relief shits and should be available to work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:45am-12:15pm. As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted

Please note: If shortlisted, applicants must provide proof of completion of Grade 10 and current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C at time of interview.

Requirements

Requirements include completion of Grade 10; three months experience assisting or leading camps, classes or programs in a recreational or instructional setting; satisfactory police information check, Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C. The ideal candidates will have the ability to be inclusive and flexible to ensure a positive environment is created for all participants; demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation.  Experience working with preschool aged children and people with behavioral or cognitive difficulties is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and expertise may be considered. 

Salary & Benefits

This is a C.U.P.E.
