The Town of Inuvik is seeking a full-time, experienced Director of Economic Development & Tourism to lead our efforts in fostering economic growth and enhancing tourism experiences. This pivotal role will involve developing strategic initiatives, collaborating with local businesses and stakeholders, and driving promotional campaigns to position Inuvik as a premier destination.
The Director of Economic Development & Tourism will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive plans that support community growth, attract investment, and showcase the unique offerings of our region. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with various audiences and promote the Town of Inuvik.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in Business Administration, Economics, Tourism, or a combination of education and experience in related fields.
- Strong understanding of economic development principles, practices, and regulations.
- Creative approach to problem-solving and generating innovative ideas to promote economic and tourism initiatives.
- Proven leadership skills with a successful track record of managing teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with variety of stakeholders.
- Capacity to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with the community's economic goals and tourism objectives.
- Understanding of the cultural and political dynamics of the North.
- The successful candidate must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
Equivalencies recognizing related education and experience may be considered.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of approx. $110,311.50 and $146,698.50 per annum, with an additional Northern Living Allowance of $14,699.00 per annum.
