JOB SUMMARY

 

To conduct field surveys, collect data (using robotic total stations, GPS, scanners and conventional methods), edit, process, prepare engineering and legal survey plans and documents (utilizing CAD and GIS software tools). Perform data processing, analysis, integration and complex mathematical calculations using surveys applications and programs. Undertake record searches, title searches and prepare compiled plans and sketches to clearly identify ownership / titles of land and other inquiries.  Perform records management duties to update and maintain GIS data sets (utilizing ESRI and ArcGIS Pro) and disseminate information. Research, investigate and recommend new technology, processes and procedures for surveys and mapping operations. Provide technical expertise and training support for surveys and mapping functions to Regional staff, consultants and other invested parties.

 

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION

  • University degree or 3 year college diploma in Geomatics, Surveying or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in related field, post graduate diploma or equivalent in GIS is preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum  of 5 years’ experience using robotic total stations, digital scanners and levels,  GPS receivers and related technology for collecting and processing data for legal, engineering, control and asset surveys.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintaining and  preparing drawing and documents utilizing AutoCAD, and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Must have strong knowledge and understanding of cadastral, topographic, control, monitoring and asset surveys.
  • Knowledge of Trimble instruments and software is preferred.
  • Registration or eligible for registration as a Certified Technician (C.Tech) with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians is an asset.

 

SKILLS ,

  • Must have superior computer skills, with a thorough knowledge of MS Office suite of products and survey related software such as: AutoCAD, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre.
  • Must have good communication (written and verbal) and inter-personal skills.
  • Must possess strong mathematical and drafting skills.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted specified license for the class of the vehicle operated (Class G).

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range:$ 33.40 - $ 35.34 per hour
